David Sadek is Vice President for Research, Technology & Innovation at Thales.
He was Vice President for Research at IMT (“Institut Mines-Télécom”) and, previously, Vice President
for Research at Orange.
Doctor in Computer Science and expert in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science, he created and
ran at Orange Labs during more than fifteen years the R&D activities and the laboratory on intelligent
agents and natural human-machine dialogue. He also directed several industrial transfer and service
deployment programs.
His research work led to the design and implementation of the first worldwide technologies of
conversational agents, as well as to ACL inter-agent communication language standard. He is or was
member of several national or international research and innovation steering and evaluation
committees: chairman of program evaluation committee « Digital Contents & Interactions » of the
French National Research Agency, member of the scientific boards of Inria and of CNRS institute on
“Information and communication science and technology”, the Defense Scientific board’s group on
“Human Factors”, executive board of the National Telecommunication Research
Network, the coordination committee of the National Alliance on Digital Science, the European Open
Innovation Strategy Policy Group, etc. He was also member of the strategic board of the national
initiative on Artificial Intelligence, FranceIA, where he chaired the groups on « Cartography » and
« Research industrialization and transfer”, and more recently French representative within the G7
Innovators delegation.
During nearly ten years, he had been Orange Emeritus Expert. He got France Télécom Award for Best
Technology Innovation, Orange Award for Best Service Innovation, European Customer Relationship
Forum Award, and Blondel Medal in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science.
